Free Christmas Pudding Tokens

A contemporary slant of an old Christmas tradition.

Mixing coins or charms into a traditional Christmas pudding is a long-standing British tradition, which was also common practice in Australia. If you find a coin in your slice of pudding on Christmas Day it is said to bring you luck for the forthcoming year - particularly where money is concerned!

Coins are the most commonly used Christmas pudding tokens, however, this tradition became endangered when silver coins were replaced by base metals which were deemed unsafe to cook with.

Newcastle’s Pudding Lady has had a set of tokens struck to revive the old practice and is now making them available for our customers.

About these tokens

The tokens come in a set of four. Each token is moulded with one of the symbols traditionally used in pudding tokens – the ring, the button, the thimble and the coin. The tokens are polished to make them brighter and come presented in a gift pouch which is perfect for storage from one Christmas to the next.

The most appropriate way to use them is to insert them into the pudding as it is served so as to tactfully enhance the experience of the receiver.

Each round token is around 20mm in diameter and about 2mm thick, so there is little chance of being swallowed unintentionally.
